From KI: Jennifer Saul Informal Student Session- 10 am Wednesday Nov. 27th

Hey guys! We got an email inviting y'all to a discussion!

On behalf of the Centre for Knowledge Integration, I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to join us in an informal “brown bag” discussion with Dr. Jennifer Saul on implicit bias the morning of Wednesday Nov. 27that 10 am. A limited amount of complimentary breakfast food and beverages will be provided.
Please note: The exact location will be announced after the deadline of Nov. 14th. If you do not RSVP, you will not be notified of this information. Please RSVP if you are at all interested. *
To those of you unfamiliar with her work, Dr. Saul has fostered an international, philosophy researchers network through her implicit bias work.  What is implicit bias? On a basic level, it is characterized as the unconscious biases we carry against members of stigmatized groups. We are often unaware of the biases we carry.
This project was largely inspired by discussions and unsettling reactions that came out of her blog on What is it like to be a woman in philosophy? Her work has also made it's way into more contemporary online news portals like Jezebel found here and just recently, in April of 2013, Dr. Jennifer Saul had an article published in Salon entitled Philosophy has a sexual harassment problem
Pursuing work in the intersection of ethics, lying, misleading, language and feminism, we are confident in stating that spending the morning with Dr. Jennifer Saul will be an enjoyable, eye-opening experience.
If you are interested in attending this session on Wednesday Nov. 27th at 10 am, please RSVP here no later than Thursday Nov. 14th.
In the mean time, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me directly at: skaidra.puodziunas@gmail.com or Dr. Katie Plaisance at: kplaisan@uwaterloo.ca.
We look forward to your RSVP and will inform you all of the exact location after Thursday November 14th. Hope to see you there!
